Are you looking to buy high quality wood pellets, in bulk, for your stove?
When we take orders for our premium quality wood pellets we hear all of the different terms people use for their heating systems.
With that in mind, we’ve put together a handy three-part guide to the different phrases and meanings of everything to do with biomass renewable heating systems.
In part one, we’ll take a look at the names of all the parts that make up a biomass heating system.
Whether you’re an existing customer looking to bulk buy wood pellets, or you’re simply thinking of investing in renewable energy, this guide will clear up a few of more common questions that may crop up.
What is Biomass?
Biomass actually means “biological mass”. It’s a renewable fuel that comes from biological sources, usually plants. In terms of renewable heating, “biomass” refers to solid forms of biomass such as wood pellets which can be burned in biomass boilers.
Does a Biomass heating system work with a conventional boiler?
No.
A biomass boiler replaces your existing fossil fuel (gas) boiler and is then connected to your existing heating system. You should be able to use your existing radiators, underfloor or warm air heating system depending on age.
What’s the difference between a stove and a boiler?
In this case, nothing.
They’re different terms for the same thing. Our wood pellets (the biomass fuel) are burned in your boiler or stove, which creates the energy to heat your hot water and heating system.
What are the benefits of a renewable energy heating system?
The main benefit to you is that heating our home or business with biomass can be significantly cheaper than a traditional fossil fuel boiler.
Another great benefit is that biomass is carbon neutral. So, you can make huge savings on your heating bills while doing something good for the planet too.
In the next part of our biomass guide, we’ll look at how biomass heating works.
