3 Reasons to Buy Your Wood Pellets in Bulk

If you already have a biomass boiler installed at your home or business, then you’re probably well aware of the benefits of this type of energy. Aside from the fact that it allows users to move away from environmentally damaging fossil fuels, wood pellets are carbon neutral to use, making them the perfect choice for anyone wanting to reduce their carbon footprint.

Many biomass boiler users have their wood pellets delivered in bags, but there are quite a few reasons to make the shift to buying or having wood pellets delivered in bulk.

Here are just a few of them:

Cheaper in bulk

As with many other products, the more wood pellets that you buy at once, the cheaper the overall cost. For instance, when you’re buying in bulk, 1 ton of pellets cost significantly less than the equivalent amount sold in smaller quantities.

In fact, providing you have the space, buying your wood pellets in the largest delivery you can take will cut your costs in the long run.

Fewer deliveries mean less carbon

This one is a no-brainer really. If you have 1 tonne of pellets delivered at once, that’s only one trip from the supplier. If you have three separate deliveries of 0.3 of a tonne, that’s going to cause twice the number of emissions from the delivery vehicles. While we’re aware that storing such a large quantity of wood pellets isn’t always possible, we’d always suggest buying as much as you can house.

Harder to run out

Having regular bulk deliveries means it’s a lot easier to keep your store topped up, which is important for a couple of reasons. If your biomass boiler is your main source of heat, you need to make sure it stays running so your house isn’t cold.

Also, under the RHI scheme of benefits, your payments will stop if your boiler isn’t running, which is also less than ideal.
